I have to say, this particular trend has me both smitten and terrified. A tried and true lover of black and gray, color is not the easiest thing for me to infuse into an outfit comfortably. I never know if I'm pulling it off or look like a clown. But before this trend finds it's way back to the bag of "oldie but goodies likely to be recycled in the future as the latest and hottest thing," I decided to jump on board and try it out. Easing in was the key for me. I saw this blazer already put together as three color blocked outfits in Forever21 and pretty much smacked myself upside the head. No brainer! "Red blazer, you're coming home with me!" Why I didn't have a red blazer already is beyond me, since I have so many white and black pieces that would go with it even if I elected out of pairing it with another bright. So home we went. I thought a good start would be to pair it with cobalt. It's almost timeless, really. After some playing around, I might grow some cojones and add a third color or pair it with something closer on the spectrum like orange or hot pink. For now, I was happy with my simple approach. As usual, I didn't go overboard on the accessories. Diamond studs, a menswear watch, and my wedding ring are all I need. I think the boldness of the blocking speaks for itself and shouldn't be cluttered with unnecessary bobbles. All in all, it turned out to be a perfect outfit for a coffee and window shopping outing with the lil one. Thankfully, the unseasonably warm weather (we normally have piles of snow and freezing temps this time of year) didn't even require that I muck up my ensemble with my bulky North Face parka. Happy experimenting! xoxo, Saybher
