So, after having a mini meltdown in December with shoulder injuries threatening my career, I got to thinking...'What else would I do if I couldn't do what I did anymore?' I'm a big believer in doing what you love. I have always told my children, do what you love and the money will follow. If it doesn't, at least you'll still be happy. Now it's time to take my own advice, and just in case you hadn't noticed...I LOVE to bake!! So how to turn that into a business? But more importantly...how to turn it into a business ON MY OWN TERMS?
Thus was born...An American Cupcake In Paris - a gourmet cupcake of the month club!! We do monthly deliveries, special orders and events and anything else I want to do on my own terms. My own terms means I'm not tied down to a bakery 7 days a week, I don't have to get up early every day to bake, I don't have employees, I can do it when & if I want. I'm afraid if I had a storefront and HAD to bake every day I would end up hating it. But you never know...since starting this last month it has kind of taken off and created a life of it's own. I've been pleasantly surprised.
In the process of defining what I want, I have decided that we are building a commercial kitchen in our backyard (which we will also rent out to other budding foodie ventures) AND I am going to buy a Cupcake Truck. Just like the ole Ice Cream Truck, music and all, but this one will serve cupcakes instead. I don't know...I may get a soft serve ice cream machine too. This truck idea really excites me!! I want to drive down neighborhood streets with kids and kids at heart, chasing my Cupcake Truck for treats!!
So stay tuned for all my upcoming adventures in this new career choice of mine...but no worries for those who are existing salon clients, I don't intend on quitting the hair biz anytime soon either!!
Happy Baking!!
